The Triquetra

The Triquetra is a triangular Celtic knot design which symbolizes all trinities and especially the realms of Air, Earth and Sea - thus all the world.

In Christian Symbolism, the Triquetra represents the Holy Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It's often called the Trinity Knot, Celtic Triangle Knot or Triquetra Knot. This three-pronged knot symbolizes the philosophy that everything has 3 distinct yet interlocked levels representing the three planes of existence - physical, mental and spiritual.

Notice how, although the three points are clearly separate, they are interlocked together, symbolizing the connection between the three planes.

Like the triskel, the symbol could also be linked to the trinity of the goddess representing the threefold nature of the Goddess as virgin, mother and wise woman. It symbolizes life, death, and rebirth.
